Communications Manager – Clean Energy Industry Leader
Mint Selection are partnered with one of the UK’s leading Clean Energy project developers and owners to appoint a Communications Manager. The company in question are at the forefront of the energy storage sector, developing some of the UK’s largest projects as part of an industry-leading pipeline which continues to grow following significant recent investment.
The Communications Manager will manage the company’s corporate communications, working closely with senior leaders internally and external comms agencies to protect and promote their reputation. They will ensure corporate and policy messages and objectives are embedded in project communications activities, working with the teams delivering major projects within the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.
Over the medium to long term, this individual should look to build out the internal comms function to decrease reliance on external resource.
Key Responsibilities
Own the relationship with external communications agencies
Manage comms actions tracker and chair weekly comms meetings
Identify, design, manage and co-ordinate the comms strategy for key project milestones, working with senior business leaders and external agency counsel
Draft press releases, news updates and social media posts
Work with comms agency to maintain and build relationships with tier 1 journalists
Manage corporate media enquiries, providing advice to senior team on responses
Own and manage the corporate messaging and FAQs
Manage the corporate website including news and project updates
Work closely with Policy team to ensure consistency of messaging across all external outputs
Assure accuracy and aesthetic / text consistency across all external-facing collateral e.g. websites, leaflets, conference presentations
Support senior team on crisis communication tasks
Manage central list of external speaking / panel events and stakeholder engagement tracker to ensure awareness and co-ordination across the business
Desired Candidate Profile
Track record with ~3-8 years’ experience in a Communications or related role
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrable copywriting ability
Highly organised with an excellent eye for detail, planning several steps ahead
Able to quickly build rapport, trust and credibility with senior leaders and external advisors
High EQ, comfortable operating in a dynamic and growing business environment
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant written discipline preferably from a Top 10 university ; further study or qualifications beneficial but not required
Experience in the energy sector, utilities or a wider real assets based sector desirable
This is a London-based role with a preference for 4 days/week in the office
