Director of Project Development – Clean Energy Developer & IPP
Join a rapidly expanding Renewable Energy Developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP) based in London, specialising in Solar, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). With an operational portfolio of 1.2GW and an exciting pipeline of projects in development or consented, totalling around 8GW, this company is at the forefront of the renewable energy sector. They also provide innovative commercial and industrial energy solutions, contributing to the transition towards a sustainable future.
The Role:
Together we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Project Development to lead the project development team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the end-to-end development of renewable energy projects, from site identification through to securing consents, financial close, and handover to the construction team. You will lead a team of 10 full-time employees, ensuring the successful delivery of our ambitious project pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of 10 FTEs, fostering a high-performance culture.
Oversee the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including Solar, Wind, and BESS.
Develop and implement strategies to accelerate project timelines and optimise development processes.
Manage stakeholder relationships, including landowners, local authorities, regulatory bodies, and investors.
Lead the preparation and negotiation of commercial agreements, including PPAs, grid connection agreements, and land leases.
Conduct financial modelling and risk assessments to support investment decisions.
Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project handover and execution.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on Solar, Wind, and BESS.
Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
Strong commercial acumen with experience in financial modelling, risk assessment, and securing project financing.
In-depth knowledge of the UK regulatory landscape and experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
A degree in a related field is preferred
